My husband & I got there shortly after the doors opened. It was great to be able to get my camera in and I was happy to see that the 2nd stage was located much closer to the main stage than where it is during Ozzfest! I had been trying to figure out how I was going to see Five Finger Death Punch (who I'd been dying to see live!) and HellYeah (the only reason I bought a pit ticket). Both bands had been playing at the same time on different stages at other stops on the tour. The stage setup was definitely do-able now...I'd be able to catch at least some of both bands.
INVITRO ...they were definitely interesting to watch since they all came out with foil masks on. LOL it reminded us of Butters on South Park! Eventually the masks came off and were thrown into the audience. They also threw Invitro beach balls which were in constant motion during their performance. I ended up with one as a souvenir afterward.
EGYPT CENTRAL I honestly can't remember what they sounded like. I think we only caught the end of the last song or something.
THROUGH YOU They were from Orlando and looked very young. We didn't have much expectations for them, just figured they were some local band. BUT we were wrong! They kicked ass...the crowd was really into them. At one point the singer got into the pit (notice the dark clouds approaching):
I regret not buying their cd, but I did end up with a pick...
NEUROSONIC We went to back to mainstage... I had never been in the pit at that venue before, so I went to check it out. Can't remember much of them either...again I think we caught the very end of their performance.
BLOODSIMPLE Back outside just in time! I was really looking forward to seeing them again. This was my 7th time! They played some of their new songs along with some older ones like Straight Hate and What If I Lost It. I can't wait for their new cd to come out. It began to rain during their set, but none of us really cared, it just added to the atmosphere. If you go to many concerts in West Palm, you're used to it! While they were playing, they would sometimes toss out Bloodsimple Jager shotglasses....at one point Kyle threw one right to me. As their set came toward the end, it REALLY started pouring so I put my camera away...would have liked to get more pix of them.
TRIVIUM Back inside. We only caught a few of thier songs. I went up front for a few pictures and then back to our seats. I had seen them several times before. I liked their earlier music better, but they're still a decent band IMO.
I went outside to see second stage, but instead of them setting it up for the next band, they were covering it up. It was still raining really hard. I headed for the pit since HellYeah was up next. I met up with some nice people who confirmed my fear....that 5FDP would be cancelled because of the rain. They said they had seen Ivan (the singer) outside and he told them. We talked about the band and how much we wanted to see them play. I handed them a few of my 5FDP stickers that I got from doing street team.
HELLYEAH It was so fucking awesome to see Chad & Greg again even if it wasn't in Mudvayne. Vinnie & the rest of the guys were awesome as well. I was taking photos to put on The Mudvayne Pit
After a song or two, someone grabbed both of my shoulders and turned me sideways. It was one of the people I met earlier in the pit...she was showing me that Ivan was right next to me! I was so excited to see him...especially after finding out that they wouldn't play. I tapped him on the shoulder & started talking to him. Ok, that sounds a little too calm....I wasn't calm....I turned into uberfangirl....told him I loved him (like he hasn't heard THAT before!) Ivan was so cool though, very friendly, He didn't seem bothered by it at all. We talked a bit, he hugged me and got someone to take a picture of us.
Then we went back to enjoying HellYeah! I got these short video clips too:
FLYSHIT ....we chose being outside in the rain rather than be subjected to that.
ATREYU I had seen them at Ozzfest last year and they were decent. I like a few of their songs, but I remember the pit being pretty wild at Ozzfest. They way the pit is at the mainstage..there's not much room for wild.
EVANESCENCE ...meh....I'm not a fan whatsoever, but thought since I had a pit ticket I might as well take a few photos. I could only deal with the first song....went back to my seat after that.
KORN A good show as always. Not too many new ones, thankfully. Too many new ones would mean fewer of the old favorites. I only stayed in the pit for a couple of songs to get some photos. I got a short video of JD on drums...but then was told we had to put our cameras away. I went back to my seat and didn't bother trying to get any more photos from there.
I did manage to get this video of JD on drums from the pit:
and these two-Another Brick In The Wall & Blind:
It was a great night, the rain didn't bother us, but damn those people on the lawn always get the crappy weather for shows!
If I have taken photos or videos of you at concerts, you can find them
